  • Wood Badge for adults
  • NYLT for boys age 12-14
  • Kodiak for young adults (male and female) age 15-18 years
  • Family Camp for spouses and children (ages 18 months-18 years) of Wood Badge participants

Purpose

ENCOMPASS provides training opportunities as you share camping experiences with your family. All four programs have a different time schedule, with limited family time. This unique program is designed around the avanced leadership programs of Wood Badge, National Youth Leadership Training and Kodiak. While mom or dad attends Wood Badge, Scout age boys have the opportunity to attend NYLT (Summit) and teens ages 15-18 may attend Kodiak, while the rest of the family enjoys a fun filled program for their age group. The entire family catches the Scouting spirit and reconnects with nature. It is very common to hear a youngster tell mom or dad “this is better than Disneyland!”

Details

When considering the preferred program for each of your family members, please keep the following in mind:

Children enrolled in Family Camp require the supervision of an adult. If BOTH parents desire to attend Wood Badge, they MUST make arrangements for an additional adult to attend Encompass as the “responsible adult”.  This “responsible adult” will be responsible for their children while the two parents are involved with Wood Badge.  This is required, as there are 3 evenings (including 1 overnighter), that Wood Badge participants are NOT with their families.  This “responsible adult” could attend the spouse program, requiring the regular fee or attend no program and be assessed the food fee.  This person MUST be a person 18 years of age or older, NO EXCEPTIONS. Older siblings who register for NYLT, Kodiak or Family Camp cannot be considered the “responsible adult”.

The NYLT and Kodiak Courses are their own programs. It is not necessary to have a family member enrolled in Wood Badge, to attend these courses.  Be aware that space is limited and fills up quickly!  Children enrolled in NYLT and Kodiak do not require the supervision of a parent as adult leadership is provided for the entirety of their course.  Although Kodiak will have some limited interaction with Wood Badge and Family Camp, NYLT is exclusive and separate from the other programs.  Kodiak and NYLT participants camp separate from Wood Badge and Family Camp participants.
